Bathing and Hygiene

Bathing and hygiene services, often provided by a Nursing Aide, help our clients feel positive about their appearance. When our clients look and feel their best it not only enhances their physical well-being but also their mental well-being. Bathing cleanses the body, stimulates circulation, provides relaxation and even helps to refresh the spirit. This is an important part of home care for our clients.

Toileting and Incontinence Care

Whitsyms appreciates that compassion and sensitivity are of utmost importance when it comes to toileting and incontinence care. Our caring approach helps patients maintain their dignity and self esteem.

Dressing

For a number of physical reasons some clients need help getting dressed. Being dressed properly makes clients feel good about their appearance and boosts self esteem. Most often a nursing aide will provide this home care service.

Eating

In general, as part of their home health care services, care providers help clients to eat a well balanced diet that provides the energy needed for a healthy life. They also make certain that clients stay on prescribed diets to control or prevent a variety of medical conditions like diabetes and heart disease. In addition to preparing meals, care providers have received training in how to help clients feed themselves. At first this can be hard to accept, but our caring approach can turn mealtime into an enjoyable social experience.

Transfers and Positioning

To promote the health, safety and proper functioning of the body’s many systems, care providers have been trained to move and place clients in the correct posture position. The results of proper transfer and positioning into beds and chairs helps to eliminate pressure areas on the skin, reduce muscle weakening and stiffening, and promotes proper breathing, digestion and elimination.

Wheel Chair Transfers

Care providers have been trained to help clients in and out of wheel chairs using safe transfer techniques.

Ambulation (Walking)

Care providers assist clients with mobility as needed to help them be as active as safely possible. The physical health benefits of an active lifestyle are well documented and include a stronger heart, lower blood pressure, improved digestion and sleep. Of course there are mental benefits as well, including stress reduction, mood improvement and an increase in mental alertness.

Whitsyms Nursing Service refers quality care providers to help with the Activities of Daily Living (ADL).
