Types of Home Health Care Providers

RN

RN (Registered Nurse)

A graduate of an approved educational program for Registered Nurses. Maintains a current Florida State license as a Registered Nurse.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing and evaluating the care given to the patient, and reporting to the patient's physician.

A Registered Nurse may provide nursing services as a home nurse or provide services to hospitals, assisted living facilities and nursing homes.

LPN

LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse)

A graduate of an approved educational program for licensed practical nurses. Maintains a current Florida State license as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

A Licensed Practical Nurse operates under the direction of a Registered Nurse or a Physician.

Licensed Practical Nurses may provide nursing services as an in home nurse or provide services to hospitals, assisted living facilities and nursing homes.

Nursing Assistant

Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide (Also known as a Nursing Aide)

Maintains state certification and or a graduate of a state approved training program.

Assists with activities of daily living (hands on care) as required by Florida Agency for Health Care Administration.

Companions

Companions

Provides basic non-medical services such as: light housekeeping, errands and general companionship.

Types of Home Health Caregivers / Caretakers

As a nursing registry Whitsyms often refers home health aides, also known as nursing aides, and licensed nurses to provide home health care services.
